Its a Family Affair? We Hope Not

Candidate for Inglewood School Board Seat #3, Renee Dorn recently distributed a political leaflet exclaiming "Its a Family Affair." One can only surmise that when she says family, she means the Dorn family. Afterall, her father is Mayor Roosevelt Dorn, the same guy who must stand trial for four counts of corruption charges stemming from a $500,000 home mortgage scheme at taxpayers expense.

It was surely not a good move on her campaign's part. This week, a group called Citizens to Elect Honest Officials mailed out political literature to Inglewood voters iterating that "Its a Family Affair-With Your Tax Dollars & I Need the Money."

The literature also describes Mayor Dorn's attempts to get the City to pay for his personal legal defense (at taxpayers expense), which the City Council rightly refused.

The mailer also suggests that the funds elicited from the home mortgage scheme were used to purchase Renee Dorn's home in the Renaissance.

Time will tell if school board candidate Dorn is somehow linked to the home mortgage scandal or not. Tuesday April 7, Inglewood and Ladera Heights voters must decide if they are willing to overlook the criminal corruption charges tied to the Dorn family or if they will elect Alena Cindy Giardina, a well known criminal justice specialist who served honorably on the Inglewood City Council for several weeks after Curren Price vacated his seat once he was elected to the state legislature.
